Chimneys in Monroe, Trumbull & Easton
Monroe, Trumbull and Easton are full of center-chimney colonials, raised ranches and capes with a wood stove insert in the family room. Fireplaces here get used most weekends from October to April, and stoves often run every day.
Inserts are where we find the most problems. Many were installed years ago without a full-length liner, so smoke and creosote collect in the old smoke chamber above the insert. We check for that on every insert we sweep.
- Wood stove inserts with no full-length liner
- Creosote build-up from daily burning
- Center-chimney colonials with large, old masonry stacks
- Caps and crowns worn by Connecticut winters
